Unit Project

In the Immersive Journalism unit, students took on the roles of journalists or podcasters to explore significant historical events and figures. Through immersive experiences, including guest speakers and virtual reality (VR) explorations; students researched, reported, and created engaging multimedia content that brought history to life. Students read the historical fiction text “Refugee” by Alan Gratz, which was used as anchor text for this unit. Students explored different historical settings related to the book while exploring the role of exposition, plot, and conflict in a historical fiction text.
